Paul Wright's Anglia Sets U.K. Record

The National Street Rod Association held their annual Nostalgia Nationals meeting at Shakespeare County Raceway over the weekend of 2/3 July 2005. A strong field of Outlaw Anglias was present, but the star of the show was Paul Wright driving his blown 555 cubic inch Anglia which he calls Alco Pop. After laying down passes of 7.765 and 7.645 seconds, he blasted away the UK national ET record with a stunning 7.578 second lap at a huge 180.32 mph. The picture shows the Alco Pop burning out before that superb run.
