In 2003, Don Garlits made his last tour as a driver, racing his Top Fueler at select events around the country.  The Murf McKinney-built machine had many trick features, including a unique mono strut wing design. The aging Swamp Rat dragster proved to be too heavy to be competitive, mostly due to its techical features.

In 2005, Mike Kloeber is still designing a monostrut Top Fuel dragster. The car will have to race at in the IHRA series because NHRA has outlawed the design. We will see if the McKinney/Garlits idea is viable 13 years after its debut.
