Bob Alberty is a longtime racer from Oklahoma who had been racing a much updated Dodge Daytona to this point in his career. Alberty bought this Ford Probe and brought it to the Hallsville Divisional race to debut. On his first full pass in the car -- the run pictured here -- the chutes failed and off the short  Hallsville track Bob went. The car was a total loss. I know this because I was behind the camera in this shot watching from the stands. Alberty later built a new Thunderin’ Okie.
