The No Time Nationals

By Mark Walker

Joe Mouth leaving hard

Ever wonder what those sounds out on the highways late at night were? The racing engines, squealing burnouts and the occasional police siren not far behind, it’s your typical back room street grudge match for money or bragging rights as to who is the fastest. The No Time National racers have solved the dilemma of taking it to the street and onto the safe surface of Englishtown’s Raceway Park, combining themselves with the Jesel "Quick 8" street car shootout and the Vette Doctor’s pro 8 Fastest Vette challenge.

With the third session of this go on green, take the win light and don’t show your hand style racing the day is filled with a new approach that even the big guns approve of. Two qualifying sessions are held to sort out your machine then its back into the pits where your number is drawn and the man in the other lane is chose to race you. Paired ladders run in two classes until a winner in each has been awarded the title in each perspective class.

This was an event the racers had built for the sake of safety and of course the problems involved with street racing and its consequences if caught. All of these racers should be applauded for taking the high powered machines and using the resources that Englishtown has provided them to hammer out their differences and bring abut another innovative series where anyone can be a player.

In the following photos, you’ll see what type of enormous horsepower the newest street cars are making on conventional chassis. Joe Mouth takes his small block Chevy with nitrous powered Starion to the newest heights of all time unexpected wheel stands for the crowd to see and us to view. Joe Mouth planted the tires hard as the car raised up and it wasn’t going to stop anytime soon. The became airborne at one point with all four tires off the ground, while the car was still hanging high on the left rear tire it started to roll onto its drivers side tires ala "Joey Chitwood", bouncing again onto the left front and coming to a rest with Joe Mouth handling the situation as good as could be expected and well. The car suffered some front end damage but it will be back again in the upcoming races they have planned. Enjoy the photo sequence!
