Big Fun at the Slingshot Nationals

On June 26th, the air at Cordova Dragway Park was filled with nitro and methanol fumes as the FEDA/ACDelco Slingshot Nationals held their seventh annual Nostalgia Dragster racing bash.

Over 40 front engine dragsters from around the country competed in Top Fuel, A/Fuel, Jr. Fuel, Nostalgia Eliminator, and Bracket Racing. The capacity crowd also enjoyed Top Fuel match racing between Chris "the Greek" Karamesines and 19 year old Josh Starcher, plus Jet Cars, Wheelstanders, Super Shifters, and an outstanding fireworks extravaganza.

Nostalgia Top Fuel veteran Roger "Radar" Lechtenberg drove Dale and Kat Suhr's "Orange Crate" to victory over Randy Bridges with a 5.975 at 216 mph. In A/Fuel, Kevin Newburgh beat Greg Benson for the win carding a 6.67 at 204 mph. Jr Fuel honors went to Pat Malloy in his final round confrontation with the formidable Jim Gravitt.
