ADRL Flowmaster Get Work Comp.com World Finals Pro Nitrous Results

Qualifying for the ADRL Flowmaster Get Work Comp.com World Finals Pro Nitrous field began with the Battle of the Belts first round. There were almost 20 ADRL Pro Nitrous cars on the grounds Friday to begin testing. A surprise absence was Doug Riesterer, who had run an amazing 4.00 at the Rock. The rest of the field was killer to say the least. The Titan import team made their ADRL Flowmaster debut, and the team’s pits was crowed by fans all weekend long.

The first pair out was Shannon Jenkins and the Western Beef Cavalier versus Johnny Pilcher in the Pilcher Family Corvette. Jenkins ran 4.06, 181 to handle Pilcher’s shutoff run. Burton Auxier took the Auxier Welding Corvette to a 4.137 over James Hancock’s 4.677, 117.47 in the CCT Racing Corvette. Former IHRA Top Sportsman World Champion Terry Housley ran over the finish line lights on a 4.109 pass in TJ Harrell’s Willys, while Rex Kelly ran 4.103, 165 in the Kelly Racing Corvette. Keith Baker ran 4.103 in the CCT Racing machine to defeat Harold Martin’s shut off 4.57 in the AC Delco Grand Am.

Billy Harper ran 4.042, 177 in his Viper to beat Gary White’s early shut off 5.805 in the turbocharged Titan Toyota. Stan Allen next ran low ET of the round in the Bankston Boys Camaro with a 4.012, 179.30 to take out the problem filled 11.28 run of Brad Personette in the other Titan car. Heath Harvey then had to pedal to a 4.627 while Dennis Radford motored away to a great 4.079, 176.03. Nathan Martin had troubles with the David Baldwin Corvette, running 6.047, 78.32, but Thomas Myers had even more trouble on an 8.69, 50.05 pass.

Jackie Deaver took a solo run and drove through the clutch, sending sparks out a pair of new headers to a 5.075, 118.63. Dave Pierce made a hard move toward the center line and shut off in the Dave’s RV Camaro with a 7.499, 60.66. Two cars that did not make the first round were Greg Green and his 57 Chevy, which broke in testing, and James Hancock III, who did not arrive until Saturday morning to drive his Corvette.

Saturday began with a rain that lasted into the afternoon, and axed the first session of ADRL Flowmaster Pro Nitrous. This made the evening session very important to racers who were in the bottom half of the field.

Racers that improved were Dave Pierce, who ran better but crashed his car. Brad Personette found the twenties, and Jackie Deaver and Nathan Martin both improved to the .30s. Heath Harvey remained on the bump after the session.

Johnny Pilcher had an off weekend losing in the first round Friday and Saturday. |
The first round began with James Hancock running a great 4.082, 175.84 to beat the red lighting Johnny Pilcher, who ran a 4.218, 172.59. Thomas Myers ran his best ever pass at 4.086, 176.89 but it trailed Burton Auxier's 4.089 to the stripe. Terry Housley pushed the Willys to a 4.072, 176.92 over Keith Baker, who got near the grass and shut off to a 4.338 at 135.68. Brad Personette then ran an amazing 4.280, 167.30 with the little turbo, but it was outpaced by Dennis Radford’s 4.115, 175.90.

Harold Martin ran a great 4.093, 176.80 to beat first alternate James Hancock III, who ran an improving 4.236, 168.79. Shannon Jenkins then ripped off an awesome 4.021, 183.19 to beat a crossed up 11.55, 35.56. Billy Harper matched teammate Radford with win at 4.179, 168.87 over Jackie Deaver’s game 4.336, 165.36. Stan Allen won his match with a 4.069, 178.50 to beat Heath Harvey who ran a best ever 4.227, 169.96 in the Thomas Motorsports/JP Harvey Motors Grand Am.

The rains soon returned after the end of the first round, shutting down the ADRL Flowmaster Get Work Comp.com World Finals Pro Nitrous for the night. The next day also proved to be a rainfest, which ended the ADRL Flowmaster Get Work Comp.com World Finals at Texas Raceway. Kenny Nowling made the decision to finish the ADRL Flowmaster Get Work Comp.com World Finals sometime in 2007.
