Fifth Annual York Us 30 Musclecar Madness Two Months Away

Countless years of drag racing history will unfold as Cloister Car Wash & Lube presents the Fifth Annual York US 30 Musclecar Madness at the York Expo Center, York Fairgrounds on July 7-8, 2006.
The excitement builds for this year's show when many of drag racing's Legends will return to York to celebrate reunions with their former race cars, as well as, with former racers that they raced against in the heyday of York US 30 Dragway.
Al Joniec is one of them who will be reunited with his 1969 Boss 429 Mustang that was recently completely restored to original specs with the help of Joniec himself by the Spinelli family of Glen Mills, Pennsylvania. The car will be unveiled at the show for the first time since completion to the delight of the show onlookers and Al Joniec himself who hasn't seen the car in over 35 years. Al now hails from Aiken, South Carolina and will be reunited with three of his other race cars, including his famous Batcar Mustang.
Roger Lindamood of Warren, Michigan noted for his famed win over the mighty Ramchargers at the '64 NHRA Nationals in Indianapolis with his "Color Me Gone" Mopar will also be reunited with his '63 and '64 Color Me Gone Mopars at the show.
While speaking of Legends the King of the Dragsters, "Big Daddy" Don Garlits returns to York for the first time since York US 30 Dragway closed and will have with him one of his early creations the "Swamp Rat 1b" that helped carry him onto his illustrious career. He will be available both days for autographs and photos with his many fans.
The potpourri of performance continues with the appearance of the original steel bodied "Seaton Shaker" Corvair funny car from the Matt Murphy stables in Atlanta, GA. Also, Matt brings with him the Dickie Harrell/Jim Kirby '68 Camaro Funny Car and the recently restored Dick Aarons and Gordy Foust '69 Camaro. Matt is placing special emphasis on reuniting Wally Booth, Dick Aarons, Gordy Foust, and Terry Hedrick with their cars at the show.
A stellar line-up at this Annual Reunion includes Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins, Joe Jacono, Jack Werst, Jungle Pam, Bruce Larson, Ed Miller, Ed Hedrick, Wally Bell, Jerry Baltes, Charlie Seabrook, Bud Faubel, Dick Brannan, Sam Auxier, Jr., Jim & Alison Lee, Tom Raley, "Rapid Red" Lang, Dan Jesel, Wayne Jesel, Pee Wee Wallace, Dick "The Shadow" Belfatti, George Cureton, Paul Mayo, Bernie Agaman, Tom Sneden, Paul Blevins, plus many, many more.
Moments in drag racing history can be savored at the show, as there is no other one like it in the country. Opportunities this vast are awfully hard to come by and what price is a good time?
The outside "Cruisin' into Summer will feature expanded activities for the giant two day cruise in on the West Plaza with a DJ for both days and lots of prizes and fun to go around. The York County Corvette Club will have their Fun Show on Saturday.
The popular Cacklin' Thunder will be held both Friday and Saturday at specific times when several drag racing cars will be started to the delight of the crowd.
The show schedule is Friday, July 7th from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. and Saturday, July 8th from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Legion of Honor awards will be presented Saturday at 4 p.m.
