All Hooters IHRA professional drivers were hoping for another two shots at the track during the Saturday qualifying sessions at the Western RV Rocky Mountain Nationals in Edmonton. Mother Nature had other ideas.
After a four hour rain delay, Race Director Skooter Peaco put an end to Saturday's on-track activities, ending qualifying leaving the results of Friday's qualifying sessions as the final field for Sunday's eliminations.
"The weather wouldn't cooperate so we had to shut it down today," Peaco said. "We plan on putting on a great show Sunday for this hard-core group of local race fans. They are going to get two shows for the price of one on Sunday."
After a time trial for the sportsman racers, the professional elimination rounds will begin as scheduled at 11 a.m.
The top qualifiers in each professional class are Doug Foley (Sewell, NJ) in Top Fuel; Al Billes (Barrie, ON) in Torco Race Fuels Pro Modified; Rob Atchison (London, ON) in Funny Car and Robert Patrick (Fredericksburg, VA) in Torco Race Fuels Pro Stock.
