Carl Spiering Motorsports leads PMRA qualifying at Luskville Dragway
July 1, 2005 - Aylmer, Quebec - Carl Spiering of Jordan Station, ON, and his Spiering Motorsports Eaton Cutler-Hammer 1963 Corvette Pro Mod set the pace in round one qualifying at Luskville Dragway in the Pro Modified Racing Association’s second event for 2005
Spiering, in his first time at the eighth-mile track, ran a 4.417-second, 163.48-mph pass. With recent rain and little rubber on the track surface past the 330-foot mark, Spiering was spinning the tires throughout the pass but kept the Corvette straight and true.
Qualifying second was Larry Sinke of Welland, ON, who ran a strong 4.484-second, 159.59-mph run in his Hammer Racing Chevy Nova sponsored by construction materials supplier LaFarge North America. Third qualifier was Kasey Janzen of St. Catharines in the KC Motorsports Chevy Lumina, sponsored by KC Auto Parts, John Bear, Wix Filters, and Raybestos Brakes. Janzen and his Lumina drove to a 4.65-second, 136.05-mph run.
Qualifying will continue tomorrow at 1 and 4 pm. Eliminations will begin at 1 pm Sunday, July 3, with the semi-finals at 2:30 pm and the final at 4 pm.
