Texas Outlaw Pro Mods: Mid Season Update

With his victory at Redline Raceway on July 23, 2005, Clyde Scott has taken a commanding lead in the TOPMA points race. The “Texas Most Wanted” blown Hemi Corvette now has 433 points. This puts him 117 points ahead of second place racer Ken Thomas. Thomas, who has amassed 316 points so far this year in the Thomas Motorsports Firebird, was absent from the last race due to a previously scheduled match race at Paris Drag Strip. Gaylen Smith closed the margin between second and third place with a runner up finish at Caddo Mills. This was Smith’s first final of the year. Thomas “Tom Slick” Myers is in fourth place with his nitrous powered Firebird. Myers broke into the 4.20s in the heat at Caddo Mills with a good 4.28 in the first round.
Frankie Taylor was able to make it to the Caddo Mills race during a break in the AMS ADRL/TRL series. The “Mad Man” in currently in fifth place in the “Taylor Automotive” 1958 Corvette. Ron Muenks is in sixth place with his blown ‘58 Corvette. Grant Hensley is seventh place in the G-Force Racing “Agitator” nitrous Camaro. Booby Booth, who debuted his new Corvette at Caddo Mills, is in eighth place. Doug Riester, who is currently sidelined after an accident at Houston, is in ninth place with his nitrous Camaro. Randy Brewer completes the top ten in the world’s fastest AMX.
The remainder of the top 20 points earners are the following racers, listed in order from number 11 to number 20: Ronnie Niswanger, H.T. Wilson, Perry Dunn, Pat Edwards, Roy Sanchez, Jerry Hicks, Ron Stokes, Jeff Sadler, Bubba Koiner, and Brad Brooks. The next official TOPMA race is August 12, 2005, at Kennedale’s Texas Raceway. Frankie Taylor will be match racing Gaylen Smith this Friday Night at Kennedale.
