First Look! 2010 Camaro Funny Car!
Racing Art by Steve Shuck
Perry Wyatt, Jr., has conducted a 10 year internet search for photos of his father's Super Camaro AA/Funny Car, but has met with only limited success. Perry also had thoughts of acquiring the original Wolverine Chassis to restore the car, but the former John Denski machine has been sold to another collector and remains financially out of reach. So, instead of giving up on his dream of keeping the Super Camaro in the memories of drag racing fans, Perry took another tack: He contacted racing artist Steve Shuck to render a version of the Super Camaro, not as the original 1969 model, but with the swoopy new 2010 body style.
To their knowledge, this is the first rendering of a 2010 Camaro funny car, and proves pretty clearly that the body style would be an instant winner on the NHRA tour, at least in appearance. Shuck has 60 hours in this rendering, which was based in part on two photos Wyatt found, but mostly came from Perry's own memory. Wyatt and Shuck are considering creating handouts of the artwork to keep alive the memory of the Super Camaro. More Steve Shuck renderings can be seen at his website, http://sikkart.webs.com
