ADRL Quarter Max Memphis Drag: Pro Nitrous DNQ's

John Deflorian was the first alternate in the Bankston Boyz Corvette. Bankston got the beautiful Reher- Morrison powered Vette to run 4.15 179.02 in qualifying. John took the place of Burton Auxier in eliminations loosing to Stan Allen in the first round.
Keith Baker was a surprise DNQ also at Memphis. Baker had various problems getting down the track in Memphis like shake problems. Baker ran 4.153 179.76 for the second alternate spot in the family’s 790 c.i. Chevy Corvette.
Johnny Pilcher was another surprise DNQ also at Memphis. The Pilcher family Corvette has been a fixture of the ADRL since its debut five years ago. Pilcher ran a 4.161 173 to qualify number nineteen in the final field in the Sonny Leonard’s Hemi Chevy.
Robert Mathis was another racer to make his ADRL debut in Memphis with his sharp 764 c.i. Sonny Leonard powered Camaro. The Florida based racer ran a good 4.216 171.62 to qualify number twenty in the field. That run was just off his best ever of 4.20.
Chuck Lawrence is making strides in the David Elsberry owned Mustang. The car looks more like a Pro Stocker than a Pro Nitrous racer. The beautiful purple Jon Kasse powered Mustang ran a 4.24 174.21 for the number twenty one spot
Top Sportsman standout Earl Folse ran his first ADRL race of the year in Memphis.
Folse got the former Steve Vick Camaro to run a 4.25 170.86 with Sonny Leonard Hemi Chevy power. The run was good for the number twenty two spot.
Harry Crane made his ADRL debut in Memphis with his Macho Man Firebird. Crane usually runs the Arkansas Outlaw circuit with his Don Ness built Firebird that was once Tom Martino’s.
Crane had the smallest engine in the Pro Nitrous field with a 632 Chevy backed by a Powerglide transmission.
Crane had help from the Ken Thomas crew and steadily improved all weekend to a good 4.38 162 for the number twenty three spot.
Pat Stoken debut his new Tim McAmis built; Fulton powered 68 Camaro in Memphis. The beautiful orange Camaro was built as a twin to Jim Halsey’s potent Camaro.
The car suffered the typical new car blues such as tire shake. Stoken got the Camaro to run 4.425 166.25 for the number twenty four spot.
Delon Joseph debut a new car, though not new it was new to him. The car was built last year for Donnie Little, but was raced without success. The car has been completely updated during the off season. Joseph got the 800 c.i. Gene Fulton powered Corvette down the track at a 4.429 161.65 for the number twenty five spot.
Blake Housley had an up and down race in Memphis. In testing the young Housley got the Walker & Housley Willys to run a 4.00 in testing Friday afternoon. The 4.00 was the best ever run for Blake. When it was time to qualify the best Houseley could do was a 4.747 107.78 leaving him number twenty six.
Thomas Myers had a weekend in Memphis needles to say. Myers could not get the 820 c.i. Reher Morrison powered Corvette to get down the track in testing. On Friday night Myers sufferd a severe fire on the starting line endin g his weekend. Dmage was limited to the carbs and the scoop mainly.
