UK NostalgiaDrag Racing: Steve Reed Text & Photos by Dick Parnham
In 2013 Shakespeare County Raceway will be welcoming Drag Racing Fans to its 40th anniversary year as a fully active drag strip at Long Marston Airfield. There will be one or two special events happening as the year unfolds but two very important milestones in the tracks history will be the 20th running of the NSRA Nostalgia Nationals and the 25th anniversary of the oldest nostalgia drag racing ever; the Original NSRA Hot Rod Drags.
In support to Jerry Cookson who Manages the Drag Racing Facility at Long Marston the first batch of Photos did include the attached Action and Pit shots of the Late Jim Read in his Rear Engine Top Methanol Dragster and in the Pit Shops you will see a young bearded Steve Reed who later became a UK Top Methanol Champion.
Steve Reed was then to emigrate to Australia where Drag Racing Fans will know he continues his have a very successful Top Fuel Dragster career.
