In the early eighties, Pro Stock was
undergoing an evolution as weight break Pro Stock was going by the
wayside. In AHRA, in order to allow the small blocks to race, allowed
them to run nitrous to try to compete with the Mountain Motors. The cars could compete early on but later could not match the horsepower of the big blocks.
