McPhillips and Manzo Triumph at Cecil County Dragway
RISING SUN, MD. (Aug. 23, 2010) – In the final results from Cecil County Dragway and the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Rich McPhillips, Phoenixville, Pa., and Frank Manzo, Morganville, N.J., took home the wins in Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car respectively.
McPhillips, worked his way through the field and ran 5.575 seconds at 253.95 mph in his final round victory over Mike Kosky, Cuddy, Pa. McPhillips won over Arthur Gallant, Boxboro, Mass., and John Finke, Selkirk, N.Y., in rounds 1 and 2.
Manzo faced off against Todd Veney, Brownsburg, Ind., and posted a winning run of 5.651 seconds, 254.18 mph in his '10 Monte Carlo. Veney drove to a 5.678 second, 253.97 mph lap for his runner up finish. The win extends Manzo’s Northeast division points lead over Veney who sits in second.
The win is McPhillip’s second NHRA divisional of the year and Manzo’s third to go along with his five national event wins.
Final eliminations for all other categories were rained out on Sunday and have been rescheduled for Saturday, August 28. Gates open at 8 am. All racers will be given a single time trial followed by the reminder of eliminations.
Northeast Division racers head to Old Bridge Township Raceway Park for the next NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event, Sept. 10-12.
