Chaos Theory
!
Text and Photos by Alan Currans
The UK drag racing season traditionally gets underway over the Easter holiday weekend and Lawrie Gatehouse’s Chaos AA/FA team were at Santa Pod Raceway itching to get in some track time. Chaos runs in the Nostalgia Fuel Altered Association series and currently holds the low ET with a 6.19 second pass last year with a best terminal speed of 220.98 mph.
Regular driver John Wright was indisposed, so veteran fuel racer Gary Page was in the seat on Easter Sunday. Disaster struck not far into the run with the car making a hard move to the left. Despite Gary's best efforts, the car hit the barrier as the pictures show only too well.
G
ary's injuries were limited to a very bad headache (no surprise there!) and some bruising. Unfortunately, Chaos did not escape so lightly and is going to need a new chassis.
These pictures form part of a sequence of 45 images of the incident which you can see on the team’s website at
www.chaos-fuel-altered.com/
Choose ‘Galleries’ from the menu on the left then ‘2010.’ You also will find a short video clip of the incident under ‘Videos’ ‘2010.’
