2006 NHRA Sonoma - Funny Car Photos

Eric Medlen qualified in the #2 spot with a 4.801/323.81. Medlen went on to win in the event final against Tony Pedregon.

Robert Hight not only qualified in the #1 spot with his 4.738 second ET at 325.30 MPH, but he also set new track records with both numbers!

 

 

Whit Bazemore made it to the semifinals where he was defeated by Eric Medlen.

 

 

John Force… of course, of course. Force made it to round 2 of eliminations where he was taken out of the program by his teammate, Eric Medlen.

 

 

Gary Densham qualified in the #7 spot with a 4.825 @ 319.14.

 

 

Ron Capps placed 6th in the field with his 4.821/320.81 pass.

 

 

Cruz Pedregon ended up driving a fireball during qualifying on Saturday. The fire ended up totaling a body and doing a lot of damage to the car but thankfully not the driver who hopped out safely after he skidded to a halt at top end. Cruz was able to get the car cleaned up and running for first round of eliminations, where he was defeated by Medlen.

 

 

Mike Ashley qualified in the #9 spot and made it all the way to the semifinals where he was taken out of the game by Tony Pedregon.

Scott Kalitta qualified in the #4 spot with a 4.806 @ 319.14.

 

 

Gary Scelzi got removed from action in round 1 of eliminations by Scott Kalitta.
