Dallas Raceway: TOPMA Photo Extra

Photos by Gena White

TOPMA returned to the awesome new Dallas Dragway (AKA the concrete palace) for a race last Saturday Night. The weather was hot but the action was hotter. Dallas Raceway is a super nice facility with first class amenities with a great track surface.

The OTS King of Speed Eric Clark was running with the Pro Mods at Dallas Raceway. Clark ran a 4.38 at Texas Raceway on Friday but could only run 4.52 at the Concrete Palace!

Doug Riesterer had his home built 68 Camaro with 820 ci Reher Morrison power running with a 4.00 best after returning from his mishap in Martin, Michigan.

David Baldwin had his nice looking Butler Motorsports set in the 4.30's in Crandall. Not bad for a 582 ci Chevy on one stage of nitrous!

Heath Harvey kills a few bugs with this fog bank of a burnout!

Harvey would later kick a few rods out the engine in a big ball of fire on this run ending his night early.

Gene Hector is seen burning the hides in the killer small block.

The Small Block Mafia was in town with Gene Hector at the wheel of the suede Vette.

Chuck Nuytten laid down a 4.16 personal best in the CN Blocks Corvette.

Gaylon Gradick's new Tim McAmis built Vette is a beauty with a 728 ci Gene Fulton engine with a Lencodrive transmission.

Chuck Poindexter brought out his little blown Beretta with a cast iron block backed by a powerglide. Chuck ran the the first session with a 4.78 best.

The Underdawg, Jackie Deaver, just made it to Crandall to race after killing an engine at Kennedale the night before.

Steve Wiley, the Texas Grim Reeper, was behind the wheel of Jimmy Hector's Corvette at the fabulous new Dallas Raceway.

Wild Wes Johnston could only run a 4.50 at Dallas Raceway in the local Hanning Racing Corvette.

Steve Wiley does a heck of a burnout in the cherry red Corvette. Wiley ran a great 4.09 in the ex Dan Bandish car.

Doug Riesterer beat a late Steve Wiley in the first round.

Gene Hector beat Frankie Taylor in the first round, 4.08 to 4.09!

David Baldwin got the holeshot but Gaylen Smith drove around him in the first round battle.

Gaylen Smith was in his third straight final at Crandall.

Ken Thomas had few onlookers for the early morning final at they speculate about who was going to win.

The all LenMar Motorsports final was won by Ken Thomas over Gaylen SMith.
