TOP QUALIFIER PERSONETT WINS FIRST ROUND OF ELIMINATIONS; SMITH NEARS FIRST GET SCREENED AMERICA PRO MOD SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP

CONCORD, N. C. – Brad Personett held onto his No. 1 qualifying position after the final round of qualifying during the Get Screened America Pro Mod Drag Racing Series at the O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Nationals.

He was able to take that No.1 position into the first round of eliminations and defeated Dennis Radford with a pass of 5.857 seconds at 254.66 miles per hour to the losing run of 6.005 at 236.26.

Following his winning run, Personett went into the sand trap at the top end of the track.  He was uninjured and officials were able to get the car out of the trap.

Von Smith takes another step towards securing the inaugural Get Screened America Pro Mod Series Championship as he was able to win his first round matchup against Mike Knowles.  His nearest competitor in the championship battle is Danny Rowe who red-lit in his first round matchup against Mike Janis.  For Smith to secure the championship he needs to leave zMax Dragway with a win and a 114 point margin over Rowe.

The Get Screened America Pro Mod Drag Racing Series eliminations continue on Sunday.
