Texas Back Half Outlaws: Northstar Dragway July

This was our first race of the season at Northstar and as always they did a great job and everyone was having a good time. We had 11 cars come out to try the 5.0 class with times shown and when the sun settled it cooled down to a more comfortable temperature. But these guys were making it HOT on the track.

Round 1:

Flip Wilson .176 5.23 124.55
Mike Jordan .188 6023 114.62

This was Stang vs. Stang and Flip was out on Mike and Mike's car was off paced tonight. This was not the norm for his car and they mentioned something about Racingjunk before the night was over. Oh My.

Mike Graham .018 5.04 137.32
Allan Durbin -.011  5.12 137.74

Mike seems to always have an awesome light and Allan cut his just a little too tight and left too soon. Both of these cars are show cars to say the least. Both of these cars are well matched in mph!

Richie Price .029 6.26 103.33
Tony Thorn -.013 5.48 110.46

Richie was having problems blowing the tires off with the small tires and Tony jumped the gun just a little too soon in his new Silver Stang (luv that  pink steering wheel by the way). Tony's car was having problems which was later found to be with the driveshaft.

Josh was driving an ex KOTH Nova for Bobby Spurgeon and it was this car's 1st race with us. Good to have you join us Bobby! As you can see Steve found that the track had a little bite in it and left too soon. This cost him this race and that Chevelle has proven weight doesn't matter.

Peggy was hoping to distract Greg long enough to get out there but I believe it went backwards. Greg wasn't paying any attention and did his usual on the tree.
Great to see Peggy out and having a good time!

Lil Fernando Ayala .074 9.11 44.13

The "Baby Fly" was experiencing some problems and really needed a saddle for the bucking going on with this run!

Round 2
:

Lil Fernando was on his game for this one but he just couldn't stop that hard charging Nova of Bobby's. Good race guys!

Flip Wilson .016 5.10 138.33
Greg Green .006 5.39 119.43

Greg put on one of his best RT's but his car had slowed down some and he couldn't stop that Stang with that Small Block Chevy. Flip was on a mission tonight!

Richie Price .260 5.72 126.58
Competition bye due to Mike Graham's car wouldn't start in the staging lane.

Mike Graham .025 4.97 141.33

Mike took his car for a test run after getting it started and ran it out the back door! This was the 1st 4 sec. pass ever and the owner of the car was estatic to say the least. The car performed beautifully! When you have a driver like Mike Graham look for good things to happen.

Steve Press

Alan and Steve were brought back up by the track for exhibition and when Steve did the burnout something happened and he had to roll on down the track and Alan ended up with a solo run. Later to find out that Steve broke a tie rod.

This was a race! Richie's crew finally got the car figured out but not enough to save him from that Bobby Spurgeon Nova!

Alan came back to give Flip some competition and finally got that tree down! But, this was a bye run for Flip and it sent Flip into the finals Stang vs. Nova.

With almost identical RT's they off and gone but Flips car just wasn't on it's game and the win light went to Bobby Spurgeon's Nova! Flip and crew were not dissappointed with R/U to say the least.
