Text by Randy Rencher
16 teams were on hand for the final Texas Automatic Outlaws race this year at Dallas Raceway. The heat was on and the track was in perfect condition. Here is how it went down.
1. Eric Stubbs 4.145 188.7 MPH (New Record) 2. Tony Linduff 4.25 170 MPH 3. Gaylon Gradick 4.35 159 MPH 4. Greg Green 4.36 164 MPH 5. Todd Moyer 4.44 140 MPH 6. Eddie Roach 4.48 159 MPH 7. Randy Rencher 4.54 158 MPH 8. Mel “Sho-Nuff” Jackson 4.60 154 MPH 9. Bengt Blomberg 4.64 153 MPH 10. Randy Neiheiser 4.65 150 MPH 11. Chuck Poindexter 4.66 153 MPH 12. John Sheffield 4.67 156 MPH 13. Dwayne Pebworth 4.85 145 MPH 14. Michael Gradick 5.15 132 MPH 15. Steve Gorman 6.60 71 MPH 16. Kent Birkes 14.48 102 MPH
Green- 4.36 164 MPH Jackson- FOUL
Jackson was not able to make 1st round call giving Green a 1st round bye.
Gradick- 4.41 155 MPH Rencher- 5.03 115 MPH
We had a broke lifter after 1st round of qualifying and was hoping Gradick would slip. Gradick on a solid 4.40 pass takes the win.
Linduff- 4.33 167 MPH Roach- 4.49 159 MPH
Linduff starting to get that bad ProCharger lined out gets the hole shot on the ROG and never looks back.
Stubbs- 4.14 187 MPH Moyer- 4.29 183 MPH
Close race. Swindoll driving Moyers car with a near perfect .003 light cant hold off the hard charging twin turbo entry of Stubbs. Both cars were on 10.5’s.
Semis
Linduff- 4.19 171 MPH Green- 4.36 165 MPH
Linduff really starting to turn the wick up on that ProCharger gets damn close to nipping the ET record. Green gets the slight holeshot but cant hold off that bad ass ProCharger. Linduff takes the $100 bounty for any blower car that takes out Greg Green in eliminations. Linduff goes to his 1st Texas Automatic Outlaws final.
Stubbs- 4.14 185 MPH Gradick- 4.35 159 MPH
Stubbs with a huge holeshot advantage never looks back running another 4.14. Stubbs goes to his 1st Texas Automatic Outlaws final.
Final Linduff- 4.25?? Stubbs- Redlit
Stubbs turns the redlight on giving Linduff an automatic win. I couldn’t remember what Linduff ran for sure.
Congrats to Tony Linduff and crew for your 1st TAO win. Congrats to Eric 747 Stubbs on your Runner Up and also resetting the TAO ET and MPH record with a blistering 4.14 188 MPH blast. We will get yalls trophies sent out next week. I was in Reno and was not able to get them in time. Big thanks to Dallas Raceway for having the track in perfect condition and running a tight show. Thanks to LenMar Motorsports for the trophies this year and all the support behind the scenes. Our next race is July 16th at Houston Motorsports Park. See you all there.
