We've been getting rain all day. Still looks stormy now @ 8:30. Spoz' to be clear through the weekend tho. We get Iowa's leftover weather, so maybe Cordova will be clear for the weekend too. :?:

We are home!! What can I say, other than, an AWESOME WEEKEND!! We left for Cordova with one thing in mind. Run some NITRO!! The story you are about to hear is true, I left out some details to protect the innocent!  We arrived after meeting Scott and the crew of Randy's the night before at the motel in LeClaire Iowa. Next morning we arrived at the track, AWESOME PLACE, it was so beautiful compared to Ks.
L arry and I looked around and felt rather inimidated by the Hemi's and blown big block alky chevy's, but Ol' brother Leon said,...they ain't nothin!!! I said, OK!! Now here is a bunch of bracket racing Ks guys with an Injected small block windsor ford who have never run nitro in the car before!! These guys run nitro all the time!! I'm gonna get my butt handed to me on a platter!! So, first qualifying shot goes down the tubes cause we blew the drive off the starter! OK, no big deal, we'll put another starter on and run our last qual shot, now I'm getting nervous, so we go up to the line, Leon says, ..I need one run to see where I am,.. So, I do a pretty good burnout, it sounds healthy, we have 26% nitro in it. It leaves, .008 light by the way,..and it runs out to 300ft and #2 pipe shoots steam out, so I shift it, it loads the engine, puts out all four cylinders on the left bank, runs 12 something at 74 mph!  That's where the 12sec qual shot on the sheets comes from. We pull it back to the trailer and seven cyls have NO ground straps on the plugs!! I told Leon that the ground straps are gone, he says GOOD! that's what I was looking for!! I said WHAT? He said, I needed a pass to see where we are,..IT'S LEAN, WAY LEAN! So he fattens it up and we go to first round! Our opponent is low qualifier at 6.93. I am nervous! I'm in the staging lanes ready to run. The guy walks up and says,.. we messed up the crank trigger, you have a bye run!! I could'nt believe it!! I felt bad for him ,but we needed another tune up run. It does a fair burnout, leaves good, shift at 7500 and it lays down, I click it at 1000ft, it runs 8.69 at 141mph. We take it to the trailer again and have only one ground strap gone, but it went lean in high , so we turn the high speed around, and Leon throws some more fuel at it, our opponent is running 7.60's, but Leon has a tune, at least halfway on it, and all I need is one little mess up from my opponent ,and another good light and we have a drag race, but alas the rain came and we will never know, but, I am on cloud NINE!! My brother Leon, took an alky injected bracket car, and put it into the finals in A/FUEL in ONE,..ONE qualifying shot!!! ONE qualifying shot, I repeated that just in case nobody really thought about what I just said. Leon did it all, we just hauled it up there. I was proud to be a part of the slingshots at Cordova. I feel like a kid again, Leon, Leon, what can I say, he made little brother an awful happy guy, He is amazing, Leon said, I've never run such a low percentage of nitro, or with no blower, or in a ford!! Well, Leon you are the best tuner out there,...Period!! :D We did'nt know how we were gonna do it, but we just gave it our best shot, and it was luck of the draw, and a little help from the good LORD, but we wanted to be there and represent DRAGLIST!! I think we accomplished our goal. You all are the greatest, we did'nt win the final, but we were in it!! I hope we did you all proud, we could'nt have done it without you all, WE ARE DRAGLIST!! Next year it's a Hemi on fuel!!  Checks in the mail!!  By the way, did I mention we were in the final?   Oh, and did I mention the only reason we did'nt win the final was RAIN?
