We spent Wednesday at the track for some test and tune, and hopefully get the two sub-8 second passes I need to upgrade my license. The first pass was a motor only run to check the new transmission out. With the launch limiter set at 4K the car launched like a champ. It went straight as an arrow and never skipped a beat. I could tell without a doubt that this engine NEEDS to be sprayed in order to put down some good numbers. I stopped the clocks at 9.70 @ 143, and ya, I dumped the laundry just to get the feel once again.
Back in the pits, the nitrous bottle was warming up, everything was checked, and it was a go for the next pass. The burnout went as planned, and with the lines purged, I was all set for the blast-off. The instant the trans brake button was released, the car took off for the center line and there was nothing I could do to correct it but lift the pedal to shut the nitrous off. Once I was back on track the pedal headed to the floor where it belongs and I was on my way. The car pulled like heck, and headed for the finish line stopping the clocks at 8.885 @154.58.
We are going to do it once again maybe as early as Friday night, we'll see.
