This Day In History

Here's where we go to kick back after the races with our pals. Pour a tall one, punch a few buttons on the jukebox, and relax...

Interesting day...
Happy Birthday Helen Keller (1880-1968)) and Doc Pomus (1925-1991)...Doc wrote "Teenager In Love", "Save The Last Dance For Me", "Can't Get Used To Losing You", "This Magic Moment", etc. great songwriter, confined to a wheelchair from childhood but supremely gifted in other areas...Cheers, WC1

Well, that was a while back...I suppose I must have seen it on an entertainment site or something. Saw Alanis live once, in '96 as the guest of a buddy and his girlfriend...big arena show in Houston...she did the "Jagged Little Pill" show. She was great; her band was REALLY great, especially the drummer...they made the most of what she can do; mainly she was a pop-star, songwriter and singer...Cheers, WC1

Wow...me and Dan are the same age, within a couple of months! Slim Pickens..1919-1983 I thought his all-time greatest performance was as the B-52 pilot in Dr. Strangelove...He ended up riding the bomb...Yee-Haw! Whooo-eee-aaah-haaa! Yeee-BOOM...one of the best black comedies, ever...Cheers, WC1
