What's on the Jukebox?

Here's where we go to kick back after the races with our pals. Pour a tall one, punch a few buttons on the jukebox, and relax...

Played that Johnny Winter CD 3 times yesterday it was so good. Got it in the bargain bin saturday at the grocery store for $2.99. Today I've been using the search engine on my Windows Media Player to find more of his stuff.
That DaVinci code book is hard to put down - you need to have nothing to do for an hour or so when you pick it up. So far I have only had 3 sessions reading it and I'm at page 266 of 454.

I talked to Johnny Winter on the phone once, in 1969...he called to talk to one of my roommates...heck, I didn't know who he was till after I hung up (my friend wasn't there. They were buddies from hanging out at the Dome Shadows club) and I went...uh...HEY! That was Johnny Winter! But what could I have said to him other than hi, howya doin'...at the time I was listening to "English Rose" by Fleetwood Mac and "Bayou Country" by Creedence and learning those licks...I also had "The Progressive Blues Experiment", Winter's pre-Columbia album that he made in Austin at the Vulcan Gas Company...but his playing was far too advanced for me to grasp at that time (he was using open tunings and I thought it was standard tuning)...He's also friends with another one of my friends here in town, Jim Shortt, and does he ever have some stories...Johnny Winter is an all-time Top 10 blues player (white, black, I don't think it matters). I have his complete vinyl output in my collection, but no CDs. Should grab one...

The DaVinci Code is a quick read. I liked it, it was a heck of a ride for a few days...Cheers, WC1

Had an embarassing "senior moment" this morning. Turned on the satellite radio at the same time as the computer. First thing I heard was Aerosmith / Walk this way then next it was Queen / Bohemian Rhapsody. Third one was Hendrix / All along the watchtower - that's when Better Half walked into the room and caught me playing the "air guitar".....

I had the opportunity to spend about six hours with my son, Dan and his band mates in Split Finger at the House of Blues in Vegas on Wed. night. I haven't seen him bang the drums live for about six years. All I can say is, he has become an awesome drummer!!! I had to sign a waiver to take these pics, so please be carefull where you send them if you choose to do so...mb99...
