We're back in the Vinyl Vault again this AM with Santana / Abraxas. It sounds pretty good too - I'm kinda surprised how little damage some of these records have after 30+ years of use.

Congrats on your son, Pete. Good tunes were had all day at the house today. Denise and the kids are hot on converting all our CDs to MP3s... the other day we bought an FM adapter for the iPod to play in the van on our way... we are READY! bp

Geez - Everyone else is into CDs, MP3s, IPods and FM adapters and I'm here still listening to vinyl?? Almost as bad is the fact I still have hundreds of casettes I listen to all the time.

Into the vinyl again today - Conquistador from Procol Harum / Whiter shade of pale album. The original sales slip was still inside the album cover. I paid $3.99 @ Woolworth's store in Sydney, N.S. August, 1972. I still remember my daily driver at that time - a 1963 4 door BelAir with a GM service cam(PN3927140) in a 327 with 4:11's and a 3 speed stick. It was my first encounter with pressed in studs pulling out of the heads at 7000+ RPM.

You gotta love Satellite radio - any old song just triggers another car memory. This AM it was Atlanta Rhythm Section / So into you - from the R&R Alternative album 1977. My daily driver at the time was a 1965 Nova station wagon with a 327/250 hp and a 'glide that over the winter got turned into a H/SA car. That was to be my first experience with a "loose" convertor too - a well used Vega unit that stalled at 3800 RPM but slipped at least 1000 RPM more than it should have crossing the finish line. It made my 5:13 gears feel more like 5:86's.

That song only reminds me of one thing -- BOOT CAMP! Once they finally let us start listening to a bit of music in the last week or two, that song and others were on the radio down in Orlando... neat memories. Sure wish I was back in that physical shape! bp

Road trip this AM on behalf of the Cape Breton Drag Racing Association trying to co-ordinate a major race fuel buy for our members. In other words I gotta visit all the racers looking for C12 or C14 or alcohol, convince them to buy(or split) a drum, collect their money, etc.
Since it'll be an all day expedition I've decided to take a few friends along for the ride:
