Had a great dinner at Taso's Steak House... Novel-T joined us there... got back to the hotel to regroup to go out to the track to check it out tonight and Billy Mac and Bandit came into the hotel driveway, doing a power slide to a stop right in front of us! All are here and we are thinking about all of you... About to go out and see what the track's like... bp

You certainly are, Pete. Went out to the track. What a nice facility. Just beautiful. Well run, well organized, well maintained. Made a short announcement about tomorrow's race and told folks to come back to hear some NITRO! Hung out with the gang and talked about tomorrow, although everyone was bone tired. Came back and had a drink with Jer and Cheryl before coming back to my room to check out the boards and then hit the hay (that's the next step). See you all at the track tomorrow! I'll bring the laptop so all can check in while we are there. bp

I'm sitting in the lobby of the Comfort Inn in Oskaloosa with Lippy and Novel T, having some coffee and getting ready to go to the track. Leon is going to make some adjustments to the tuneup on the Kansas Twister and they're going to kick some butt today. Mike's 60 Chevy is unbelievably gorgeous "in person"...so is that Kansas dragster, folks...Larry wants Mike's engine for the Kansas Twister...<g> Mike Jr brought me out here from Des Moines yesterday...Rapid's shop is almost right next door to the bus station. I pretty much stepped off the bus right into Rapid's office. All that BP said is right on. We are thinking about y'all and with the 20 or so folks who are here, we are having a fantastic party. I'll leave the "Mystery Guest's" identity to BP to reveal, but it was a completely unexpected and delightful surprise.
The track has awesome bite. It is meticlously maintained and run. The funny thing was yesterday the track owner took us on a hands-on tour and we kept thinking the finish line was where the timing lights were...so it looked like a pretty long track and a very short shut-down area...then we found out the finish line is about 300 feet before the clocks! It was like..."OOOOHHHH!!!!" a very funny moment. Lippy was trying to figure out how he was going to stop the dragster, but when he saw the actual location of the finish line, life was suddenly good again. Gotta run. Good luck to the GG/JTP team in St. Louis today!
Cheers, WC1
