Wow O Wow!!
We survived the heat, made a pass after Lippy and Mike about 8:45 or so. the track temp was 107, 3800 feet corrected air, 94-degrees air temp, and 47% humidity.
We went the full track length in the burnout. I rolled to a stop past the finish line!
I had made some changes to the fuel system earlier in the day. When the car left it felt great, 2nd gear, and still hauling,,,then about 250-300 foot out, the car picked the front end up again!!! I was grinning and thinking, well this is cool, it has NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE!!! The shift light is on again, since I know it is way too early the car is spinning the tires. Around 550 foot it is moving to the left guardrail and I had to lift. Right back in the gas, and I fly thru the finish line. I drop the chutes, and the car is trucking pretty good, as soon as the chutes hit I get after the brakes, a tad hard and the car is bouncing. Dang, I have been to this movie before. I left off the brakes, the car settles down and I go back to the brakes. I round the curve in the oval track and coast up behind Mike's 60. It felt pretty good. But, I knew I ruined it by having to pedal once. Lippy, the Mike's, and Gary (Pro70} were all on the top end to watch the run.
When the crew came down they were all smiles. I figured it might have run a 4.20-30ish something. They yell out,,,,,,,,4.13 @ 173 MPH!!!! A new record for us in ET!!! Our previous best was a 4.17!
I wonder what it would have run without the pedal job?????
Long burnout, record run, all in front of friends at home track!!! Priceless!!! Life Is Good!!!!
