It doesn't always work out for everyone to make the trip. Robbie I would have fixed the engine also. FHB, Doc, Purple, Gator all you guys had things that kept you away. I can promise each and everyone of you were discussed, and more than once. It was a Draglist family event, and even though you were not there physically, we all counted you there. Trust me!

Gator knows the drill. I have, we all have, missed a large number of things that were important just to work on, race, buy parts for a hot rod. It comes with the territory in my opinion. My daughter wanted me to see her prom dress on her. So Laura and her came to the race shop where I was painting the Hurst Hairy Olds prior to it's trip to SEMA. I have a picture of her dressed to the nines, and me in an old tee shirt and pants with a paint mask hanging around my neck. Just a part of the drill. We all understand and are cool with it!

JUST MAKE NEXT YEARS TRIP!!!!

Hiya, Boys and Grrls........

well...I'm FINALLY back in the proper zip code.....but I ain't made it "home" yet.....(I'm within rock chunkin' distance....but I prolly will refrain fron attempting that trick..as the librarian may not take kindly to me bustin' out any winders  ).........I had to check in here and see what was bein' said............here's MY take on 2007........

The Gatornationals are in Gainesville, Fla every year......
The US Nationals, at Indy........

this past weekend....we christened Eddyville, Iowa as the home of the DragList.com Nationals......that's just my opinion.....but the "fit" there is just too cool.......Yes..."I" had some troubles getting there and then back....but my time in the Mid-west was, bar NONE, one of the GREATEST weekends EVER in my life........

I'll chime in later with a suggestion or three (if Bandit doesn't beat me to em' in another thread somewhere).....AFTER I have had some shut eye

I'm more than OK with Eddyville if everyone else is... Talking to the track owners on Saturday night, they were thrilled with our turnout and were hoping that we could build the event into a consistent thing. That would be great in their opinion... so I think we have something great to work with. There are tons of other things we can do, eventually, but the groundwork has been set for a terrific annual event. Even if we do only the stuff we did this weekend, it will always be fun. I'd like to get more race cars there eventually, but Eddyville works for me! bp

(ok...so I ain't made it to my pilla....yet....I'll deal with that later  )

BP....The ONLY thing that I would suggest for "future" DLN's there......is for us to be pitted up as close as possible (if not right next to) the staging lanes.
That way.....the casual fan would be able to have the easiest access to us....and we would be even "more" of the "show".......
The larger the car count amoung us....(which I am SURE will increase from year to year).....the more of a "show" we can be.

Any other suggestions peeps????

My request to them was to be in a spot "all together" and where we could have a bbq in the evening.

As a general rule, the car count is a ton higher down there. The asphalt is all paid pit parking spots, as are most of the spots along the track down to where we are. Maybe we could be in the grass directly South of the track, out closer to the road as to not be in the way of the regular racers.

One thing we have learned as a Pro-car. You don't want to "Take Over" the track and make it so the bracket guys don't get their runs or can't be in their "NORMAL" spots. If you do, then they make the track mgr/owner's life hell. They plan on racing every weekend, and they have to figure into what happens.

Sorry this got kind of wordy/preachy. Nothing intended by it.

That's a side of it that I didn't think about, Rapid...the way I saw it, we were lucky to be there, we had space, etc...it was a pretty good trot down to the stands, but what you're saying makes sense in consideration of the rest of the racers there...the quality and variety of the cars that were there was impressive...sure can't wait to see it full of cars! Cheers, WC1
