First off, I had a very nice b-day, Randy, Trish brought chocolate fancy cup-CAKES and stuff to the track. anyway, we unloaded the car, had not even started it before then. After going thru the usual small things that need adjusting here and there, we fired it up. 35 deg timing in it. Leon had no idea where the fuel system would want to be with the mag, he is so sharp, we fired it up and it was RICH, but the mag was lighting it!! It was raining nitro, we leaned it out a bunch and we just wanted it to go down the track on all 8 cyls to see where we were. It doesn't have a rev limiter now, and this car is hard to feather the throttle, you need wheel speed on the burnout, but you don't want to over rev it, when it hooks a little on the burnout, your done. Anyway, did a short one and Leon said, leave with the rpm low at first and see what it does, ok, I staged and left about 3000 or so. I had a .024 light and it took off pretty lazy, that's ok, shifted and away we went, lazy but on all 8. Ran a 8.79 @ 155. pulled around the turnoff and hopped out, why is the wheelie bar wheel got milky oil on it? WTH? Walked up and look at the puke tank, oops! it's covered with oil dripping on the ground. We towed it to the trailer, It had been so rich, it had the oil diluted so bad on the first fire-up and evidenty the tank had stuff in it already from previous runs, I checked it though before, and it was empty, at least I thought. So we change the oil, clean everything up. Got it all ready to go. Our track has a new rule, time only's have to wait till after the third round of elim's. We sat there 3hrs and waited to run. Nother story, anyway second pass I told Leon, I'm gonna hammer it against the convertor and run it out. It sounded good, did a nice burnout, staged, matted the pedal, .048 light, it left with the wheels up and danced them all the way thru low, shifted, picked them up again and ran real nice all the way through. Got the time slip, 8.77 @ 154. What? 1.36 sixty foot? Engine was clean, no oil anywhere, I'm starting to get the idea that it's tripping all the beams with the rear wheels, I think it's tripping the sixty footers with the rear ones and tripping the e.t. clocks with the rear ones for some reason. Cause I'm here to tell ya folks, there's no way that was a 1.36 sixty foot. That car left and hauled butt in low gear. I had the wheelie bar a little high, but, oh well. Back in the pits we decided we are beating a dead dog, we have tried everything with this engine and we are done with developement. It's too high a static compression to run any volume of nitro in and it's gonna take more to make it run faster. The Ford is done on nitro. It's back to alky for the rest of the year, then next year it's gonna be a hemi, clutch, high gear only and a new floater rear. It's a good little engine, we are just to the end of development. It's a fun little car to drive, it jus needs more muscle. That's my report! Thanks for reading my ramblings!!
If you think it's exciting now, wait till we start it.

Hi Randy, yeah it was pretty fun, we'll live to fight another day!! Was so goofy a weekend though! Broke all kinds of stuff, gearshift on the four wheeler, muffler fell off too! Broke the nitro beaker!! WTH? lost one of the thumbwheels off the injector, from the trailer to the starting li ne? and it was tight!! ??????????? Weird stuff all day.

Yes I had a good one Bandit!! Thanks! I don't think it's so much it doesn't like nitro, it's we can't put enough in it with the compression we have.
