The Night Shift

Here's where we go to kick back after the races with our pals. Pour a tall one, punch a few buttons on the jukebox, and relax...

I have two pictures of two bouquets to share with y'all. The first one is the dozen long-stem roses I got for Debby for our anniversary last week. She asked me to take a picture of them after she put them in a vase in the kitchen's "breakfast nook". Note the Jetsons on the wall to the left...what can I say, it's how we live.

The next bouquet is one I got from my sister, Sylvia. As I might have said before, our Mother's name was Pansy. If that wasn't good enough, her 3 sisters were named Fern, Violet and Rosebud. Sylvia had the pictures of the 4 flowers done in a frame and she sent one to every one of us...all of their kids. 9 of us. I thought it was an incredibly beautiful statement, one that I could never have made in a lifetime. I got to thank her for it yesterday. On the back it says "In memory of four great ladies who touched our lives in loving ways. Sylvia 2006." Enjoy! WC1

Thanks, BP!!! I can see from having gone through that site that I need to update the graphics and writing sections. I will do that either tomorrow or Wednesday...one of those 2 nights I will be practicing with the Whiskey Saints; I'll find out tomorrow...you did a GREAT job on that site and I am very much thanking you for it and all you have done for me and us! Same kinda things happening here, Doc. Places are gone. Mowed down and replaced with coffee shops (all respects to our coffee man) and sushi bars, cell phone stores and health spas. I don't go to any of those places. I played a gig last Friday night with the Whiskey Saints in Deer Park, the birthplace of Texas. There's still a lot of afterbirth hanging around there. At least we got tons of great Mexican food. My styrofoam box full of fajitas and rice didn't last until noon the next day. Kyle ate it once he found it in the fridge. It went to a good cause. The Bay Area Medical Imaging Society threw a party and hired us to play. I told 'em "Y'all are Imaging Techs?" They all go "Yeah!" I said "Heck, I bet y'all can see right through us..." The joke was a hit. I hung out with all those medical people and had fun. The Saints hit the note. We were well-rehearsed. It was not a loud, late gig, but I did get lost when I drove away. East became West, North became South, and I found myself all the way out in LaPorte on the East shore of Galveston Bay before I realized I had turned the wrong way on Spencer Highway (Gilley's from Urban Cowboy was there...it's still pretty much that kinda scene but the club burned down a while back). But I did get home waaaay early compared to the way it was last year. I also noticed this week that the only phones I hear ringing anymore are the real phones. I'm still using closed-captioned TV, but I'm getting used to it...Cheers, WC1
