This may be a dopey question, but is there a technical reason why the butterfly's open with the top tipping in rather than the bottom tipping in? Is there an advantage one way over the other?

I have a dopey answer. The blades scoop the air comin' off the hood when they flip out at the bottom. No data to back that up .... just a guess.

Great pics, Vic! I went ahead and put headlights on it, a grille, etc. also did some more to the paint job...let me know if this is good or if it needs to change...I like the car better with pine trees behind it rather than palm trees...Cheers, WC1

Don't question the ways of the universe!! It aint natural boy!

Well one reason is the linkage has to move in that direction if you would like the barrel valve to feed your engine some fuel.

It also has to be that way so the bottom of the blade has a "HOME" to rest against so that the pull of the supercharger doesn't keep trying to open them. If the bottom tipped in, the car wouldn't return to a consistant idle.

It is guys like you asking questions like that, which causes the rest of us to by new parts to keep up with the new speeds you discover by asking guestions like that. :D

So while i was pulling things off of the chassis today
i came across the sema tag hidden by the cool
aluminum seat, once i got the seat out of the way there it was.
a little sand paper to remove the coats of paint, and
Bam,..sema # 98,...aka ken cox..what a relief... :P

also measured out the motor,...53 1/2 out.
waiting on group owner to give me access to the funny

of jacks vega Qaurter bender but, no dice...
