Assasinated on the steps of 'the courthouse' while attempting to foil an arch-villian cadre by legal, peaceable means. Typical. The man who became so vital to our national self-image...not an ounce of guile, bigotry or other characteristic liable to stain his honor, was inspiration to countless GI's fighting for global freedom and justice, to Joe Average trying to raise his family ethically...and, of course, to Bruce Larson.
Captain America may yet come back in our lifetime, but Stan Lee-who should know- discounts any likely and sudden resusitation. The last page of the last issue, due out Wednesday, shows our Superhero stretchered towards an uncertain...end...

Man, these comic guys have been getting too real over the past several years. I remember as a kid, hanging on every sensationalized cover. I can tell you right now that if I'd read about the death of Superman (which happened) or now, Captain America as an eight year old, I would have been devastated. I still have a pang of regret when I see the good guys lose one... guess I'm still naive at some level. bp
