He and his empire provided me countless hours of joy and I'm still fully engaged in the sport he helped to hook me on 35 years ago. bp

"Robert E "Pete" Peterson, a former MGM publicist...thought he might..be able to help SCTA ward off the threat of legislation that would ban automobile racing and make hot rods illegal."

..from "High Performance"- pgs. 55-56, Dr. Robert Post

Peterson was our sport's first great lobbiest on behalf of Americans desirous of a squirrel-free venue to test tune and celebrate acceleration.

His contribution to pop culture, via his empire, caused many slot-car kiddos like me to touch, taste and feel the logical extention of our enthusiasm. Hot Rod was our sport's The Sporting News for years.

I've been preoccupied over the last week or so with other developments, but Mr. Petersen created a medium that touched my soul and changed my life when I was a kid and has been my guiding light ever since...Hot Rod Magazine...thanks Mr Pete, you made this kid very happy and filled my head with dreams that never went away they only got bigger and better. I only regret that I never sent you a letter and told you that until now. God Bless, Rest in Peace. WC1
