Instrumental in the Southern California gasser and funny car movements. His cars were always the most beautiful and some of the fastest around. Condolences to John's friends and family. bp

Details on Big John's passing

Postby Jr's Other Kid » Mon Jul 31, 2006 8:22 pm

I attended Big John's funeral and it was very moving. Lots of old friends there. Jr. Thompson & Ed Iskedarian gave nice speeches about him.

As I understand it, John was undergoing chemotherapy for his Leukemia. He had a cough but not a bad one. Being weak from the chemo it did turn to pneumonia though.

and click over the tribute link (or his name)

Wow. I grew up hearing this name on a regular basis in my household. My dad knew him. Unfortunately, I never got the chance to meet him!
