Our good friend Marvin Noel called over the weekend to report some sad news. Stan Shaw -- who raced NHRA Pro Stock in the late 80s and whose 57 Chevy was one of the major players in early 90s Pro Street drag racing -- passed away after an auto accident in Atlanta this past week. Our sympathies to Stan's family and friends. bp

It seems I was reading something about the birth of Pro Mod racing not too long ago and Stan's name came up in the article. Didn't Tony Christian buy and race Stan's '57 Chevy ?
May you rest in peace Stan, and we all thank you for your contributions to the sport.

As far as the real birth of ProMod..No re: Stan.
His '57 was yes purchased and made famous by Tony.
( steel "street car" deal.

Stan & Mauney really put the "back Halfed " cars in the weeds...

.....one of the first of the new gen. of grassroots drag racers who became promoter draws without having to manufacture their celebritihood. He was one of nice people whose 'work' seemed to make Broadway Bob so happy near the end of his career. We'll miss ya, Stan.
