Don Gay contributed a tremendous amount to the sport of Drag Racing and to this region. He's a legend here not just for his superb skills as a driver (he retired young, still in his 20s when his brother Roy was killed but he had world-class driving talent) but for his founding Houston Raceway Park with the Angel Brothers in Baytown. Don Jr. retired not long after his near-fatal burnup in Denver while racing the Snake there at the Mile-Highs. That was in the late 80s... Shane hasn't raced in a while but he ran T/AD last I heard. They're a great family and Don will be missed. Rest in peace, Don Gay. You lived a great life. WC1
