Lee Hazlewood

Postby WildcatOne » Tue Aug 07, 2007 9:12 pm

Besides being the best thing that ever happened to Nancy Sinatra, Lee polished the careers of many singers in search of good material. Stark, blunt, even at times terrifying with his lyrics, Lee Hazlewood broke the mold and set a new standard for "country" songcraft that could only be approached by Johnny Cash. Full-orchestral, minor-key straight-stab-in-the-heart stories...as a country singer...He transcended the genre and with his distinctive baritone and almost speaking-style of singing, he painted some very dark and deep pictures of his soul. Respected (feared?) by his peers, he was a major talent and he had an uncompromising attitude that went with it. There'll never be another Lee Hazlewood. WC1
