The Night Shift

Here's where we go to kick back after the races with our pals. Pour a tall one, punch a few buttons on the jukebox, and relax...

Thanks, Royz. Pee Wee has a CD that they made last year with a different lineup than the one he has now, but it's good...soul hits from the 60s...I have a CD that I made with the Citykings in 2005 that we got the first shipment on January 2, 2006. It's all music we wrote and we recorded it at SugarHill studios here. I recommend that CD; it got a lot of airplay in Europe this year. I'm not in that band at this time...I was offered to play for Pee Wee and make money and I took the gig. I still play with Randolph from the Citykings; he plays bass for me when I do a benefit or something with my band the Wildcats (hence my name here, "WildcatOne"). The Wildcats play roadhouse boogie and blues songs that the Citykings dropped in 2000...it's stuff I wrote and I still wanted to play, but I didn't have a band to play them so I put the Wildcats together in 2000...tell ya what...pm or email me your mailing address and I'll send you the Citykings album, "Four Lifetimes". We agreed it's now a promotional item so I'm not going to charge you anything for it. The collection of songs on it represent our best material from that year, and a lot of folks dig it to no end. It has an atmosphere and a spirit all its own. Cheers, WC1

This lady took pictures of the band at the gig in San Antonio Saturday before last. Here we are in our tuxedos. The picture of me, I'm yelling "AAAAAY, BO DIDDLEY!" In the one where I'm standing behind Loren the keyboard player, I'm playing real, real quietly, looking up at Pee Wee, who is standing on a chair doing his thing...then we got the full band, and another shot of Pee Wee probably doing "Old Time Rock n' Roll". That was a good night! We were sweating in those penguin suits, though. Cheers, WC1

I won't be posting after tonight until Debby and I get back Sunday from our weekend in Galveston. 2 nights in a row at Club 21, a nice room over on the Bayou both nights, near Moody Gardens...I could call Moody Gardens the ultimate tourist trap in Galveston, but that's where me and Nick got Sabby Cat, out of a cage that the SPCA had him in at a cat show there back in early '99...

The weather kinda sucks with tropical storm Erin moving onshore today. BAD storms all day long and rain predicted short-term...but we weren't exactly planning on spending the weekend at the beach, ya know. We needed this time together and we'll make the most of it. Debby's decided not to accept the offer the guy who bought her boss' company from him made to her. She wants to do something different. What she's going to do is make the trip to Memphis with her boss for her final fling with the USS Baltimore reunion, then when she returns, his company will become the property of the new guy, he will retire and she will leave...on her 51st birthday...at first the new guy didn't offer her a job after the sale, he said he didn't need her, everything she does is not what he wants, etc...it killed her spirit to stay and devote herself to him like she did with David. What she wants to do is work with people in assisted-living facilities, coordinate activities with them. She'd be GREAT at it. I saw what she did with the USS Baltimore folks. Turns out Loren's wife is the human resources director at one of the biggest and most prestigious elderly care facilities in town. It's a 15-story luxury condo in the Galleria area on Post Oak Boulevard at Memorial Park. Way upscale. Debby'll probably meet her this weekend. I'm deep-down saying a prayer that they hit it off and somehow Debby lets her intentions be known to her. She hasn't been happy at work for a long time, but it's a paycheck. If she could do something like this, that she loves, she would really be enjoying life a lot more than she has been. Wish her luck. I'm looking forward to it all! Cheers, WC1

Stay Dry WC. Have fun this weekend. Hope everything works out for Debby too.

We've been through the career change with Cheryl. See was just a few years from retiring with a pension when they closed the department she was in. She was one of the last to go. It took her awhile but she's workin' in a hospital (Maternity) now. Turns out to be the same hospital our daughter Jenni will be checkin' into in a few months to have her first baby. Funny how things work out HUH?

TX heavy rains have been in the news up here. Sounds wet.    See you when you get back.
