The art of Mime is becoming a lost art; not as useful as in years past...with technology and most folks' need for instant gratification, anything is visually possible. But Mime goes back through the ages and is debatably the most difficult of all performing arts to execute. It is an inborn talent that some people posess, combining dance, acting and exaggerated gestures, some have it in greater capacities than others. Red Skelton and Jackie Gleason were gifted Mimes and they would feature their routines regularly on their TV shows. David Bowie was a member of a Mime Troupe, and even I have used Mime in my performances as a musician...but above and beyond all others for all time was Marcel Marceau. His life and his art were a dream-world of music, writing and performing, and he left the world with an impression of beauty and human feeling that was unparalelled in history...and he did it without speaking one single word. Rest in Peace, great artiste. WC1
