.....in all my daily hubbub, I neglected to note the passing of the one major newspaper journalist many of us credit with giving national event racing results their due in sports sections all across our nation. Mr. Glick wrote pre-race interviews, qualifying results and race results in a thorough, professional manner....year after year...as, IMO, the reporter of record for Pomona events.
An aside: Please.....please consider how he 'sold' his assignments to his editor at the LA Times with no quid pro quo beyond a press pass. When Glick was in his glory, there was no PR department giving him any 'tour'; no expectations of anything but his raw talent responding honestly to the excitment. Wally was a gracious host; the proof in his contention that our sport would sell itself was in these memorable articles we looked forward to each February. Glick knew that any successful business marketing would come as a result of that reaction....not the other way around. This made Glick a hero to the Nitronic Research posse.
