RC Sherman, who drove the Black Magic and Raybestos funny cars, passed away on Dec. 18th. RC died of Lou Gehrigs disease at the age of 64. Rest in peace my friend and thank you.

R.C. Sherman was one of the best men and one of the fiercest competitors ever in our sport. May he rest in peace. My condolences to Mr. Sherman's family. A cure, please. WC1

R.C. was a Maryland hero. We loved him in the Black Magic and Raybestos cars, but we really loved that wicked green homebuilt BB/FC Corvette. Rest in peace, RC... bp

It's important to remember that, in addition to other aspects of his illustrious drag racing career, R.C. Sherman was the first in the seven-second zone in the earliest of Pro Modified's incarnations, IHRA's Street Rod Eliminator, in 1980.

There has been no mention of this fact in the media's notices. The (apparent) few who witnessed those runs from his supercharged '62 Corvette will never forget the absolute awe produced by his performances.

"RC" was a true rock for me after "DA's" death. Having known both he and Ginger for almost 30 years this is definitely a hard pill to swallow.

Please feel free to sign his guest book at: http://www.legacy.com/WashingtonPost/GB ... d=99877175
