Debby. She'll be there tomorrow night at Bojangles for New Year's Eve with the Pee Wee Bowen Band. It'll be black-eyed peas, cabbage and champagne. Should be a major hoot. I invited David and Vicki Holroyd to bring Debby down ("Down" being NASA Rd 1 at the Galveston Bay Highway)...I'm taking George early, gotta put on a tux...also bringing Sylvester the trombone player...also working a full day tomorrow.
I'm working on soundproofing (it ain't gonna happen no matter what I do) the garage, where Nick practices drums and plays with Blastula. A lady across the street a couple of doors down has called the cops on us a couple of times, at 2 in the afternoon...gotta keep trying. One more call and we get a citation. Yesterday I was whacking a strip of 3M tape that was covering 2 layers of flattened-out cardboard boxes that will stand behind a wall of foam and pillows. I missed, and the rug knife dug into my left hand, in the palm below my thumb. Blood, pain and more blood and pain. It's bandaged. Debby dressed the wound. I should be good to go tomorrow night, but right now it's pretty tender. It was a deep cut, not long but the blade just about buried itself in there. Compliments to Debby...the cut stopped bleeding almost as soon as she got on it.
Getting ready to go to Galveston and visit my folks. Long story there, but Debby baked a platter of Cornish Hens and made a stack of Cranberry Nut Bread to take down...guess I'll kick back and fall asleep watching the Pokes and Skins go at it. My Dad's getting ready to sell the house there (I sure hate to see that happen, but things happen the way the Lord wants them to) and move into an assisted living facility. He and my stepmom are not able to take care of that house and each other anymore. Debby's going to the Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo. area for 7 weeks starting next weekend, to help her CPA sister through tax season. I'll miss her, but she'll be back for the Spring Thaw. The band has 7 gigs this month. 1 local, 6 regional, 5 public, 2 private. The private parties pay large coin, the club gigs aren't bad, but we make great money at the private parties. Life is good.
