20th Annual Good Guys at Indy

Well the short version is it was a tough weekend of racing for the Plastic Fantastic group. We were trying something different and it just didn't work out as planned. I was late at the tree, and the car didn't perform as it should have so it was back to the trailer as a 1st round loser. The good news is the car is leaving and going right down the track, although not as quick as it should. The problem that has been killing the rods appears to be cured. Danny spent a lot of time researching the oiling system, and I am glad it is paying off, as every run the car is clean and dry now. We now have to tackle the performance issues. I believe we do have that ironed out as well. The Cordova Heritage Series will be the next time to run the car and see if we have it back on track.

It has been pretty well documented how lousy the weather was starting Friday night. It stormed all the way through around 1-2PM on Saturday. The track was flooded, as was a large section of the pits. A big "Way to Go" has to go out to the track and the Good Guys who did whatever it took to rid the grounds of the water, and then to prep the track so it would take the horsepower the Nitro cars had to offer.

There were a ton of racers there, and I got to meet a number of new people, as well as see a ton of friends for the 1st time this season. I got to spend quite a bit of time with the Speed Merchants NTF car who had David Pace driving. That car has some really trick pieces and a lot of talent on the team. This was their 1st event and they had the car running well and not hurting itself. Bee Gator made the scene all the way from FL. We all know her from the Internet, but it was cool to meet her in person. Rick Rogers was there with Art D. and his NTF car. I got to see if make what I believe is it's first pass down the strip. They did a nice job a making Art's weekend.

Thank you Justin for getting a group of cars together for the event. The Funnycar show was well received by the crowd. The cars were the cream of the crop as far as great looking cars go. There was close racing, and I had a blast being a part of it all. Racing a Nitro car at Indy,,,Wow!

I hope you enjoyed my "What I Did Last Weekend" story.

Great report buddy, too bad you didn't get a few qualifying passes in to sort things out.

This old guy is planning to be at Cordova on the 21st for the NHRA Heritage shindig.
I got looking at my old photos and have not been to that track since 78.
Hope to see some of you there.
