Here's where we go to kick back after the races with our pals. Pour a tall one, punch a few buttons on the jukebox, and relax...

Thanks, guys. They postponed the surgery for at least another week. The infection in my leg still hadn't healed as of Thursday, so they put it off another week. The doctor told me if he operated on an infection, it would probably kill me, so we said well, that's sure not what we want now, is it...I finished the prescription of antibiotics today, so I go back Wednesday to try to get this done next week. I had to take off some time from the band while this is going on. They're playing tonight at Lone Star with Doug Ardoin on guitar. Doug is a great musician and a great guy, and I am perfectly cool with him doing this...I consider it a compliment and a favor that he is doing it. I'm just not in top form physically right now, but after this procedure is taken care of, I'll heal up and be back in a few weeks. Cheers, WC1

I had the surgery yesterday at St. Luke's hospital. It was successful. The doctor plans to run some tests on me to find out what caused all this. I think it's my diet. Just my feeling. Anyway, I'm going in Monday for a follow-up and he'll remove the tube and keep me at home until February 2nd, when I return to work. I expect I'll be back onstage with the band February 6th. Aside from the DragList Calendar, which has been the most fulfilling artistic accomplishment I've ever had the privilege to do in motorsports (thanks to BP), I've been doing a lot of graphics, mainly for the Pee Wee Bowen website. A huge double-thanks again to Maritime for hosting, designing, keeping the site updated and putting up with all my picky changes. Thanks, Don. A huge thank you for Xavier Flores at GRI for assuring me that my job is safe and waiting for me when I return to work and for his continuing offer to help me with whatever I need. A huge double-thanks to Pee Wee Bowen as well for the same guarantee to me for my position in his great band. I've had calls from everyone in the band, and from the Citykings also. I owe the biggest thank-you to my Dad Ray, who called me one night about a month ago and told me to have the surgery and he paid for it all with no strings attached. Dad, you saved my life. Thank you. I'll do my best to live up to your investment. WC1

Very glad to hear your surgery went well. Take care and don't rush it, (although I know you want to).
