Sorry Pappy. :( Do what Mike says and get it out there. 8)

If you don't and just hang around the house, the wife will just put you to work.

Let's just say that the last few years have taught me what short engine life feels like - I know how you feel Pappy. You'll get her back together.

Sorry to hear this Pappy, don't do anything yet.

I sold my car and was going to get out of racing back in 97. Sold everything! That was a mistake. I was able to go a year and then I could't take it anymore.
In 99 I bought the altered with a 340 chry engine. After about 15 passes I found the guy I got it from didn't tell me was their were no baffles in the oil pan. So it spun one and two rod bearing. Scraped the 340!
Engine #2 a sb 350 chevy. Number five piston exploded at the finish line in that one and the rod took out the block.
Engine #3, savaged the cam, lifters and heads from #2 engine. Picked up another sb 350, machine work already done, bored .030 over, Ohio pistons, stock crank, rods and a set of stock 194 heads for $300.00. Used my 194 heads, after replacing the bent valves in the #5 chamber, cam and lifters to put together what I have now. It's lasted for 4 years so far and runs consistant 9.60's. I figure the total cost in this engine is about $550.00. With that cost in mind, I do start to hold my breath when I get close to the finish line as the engine reaches the 7000 rpm mark.

Hang in the Pappy !!

Pappy,
This last post page was sure peaks and valleys!
Sorry for your mishap but those things can happen and you're OK.Could have been a bad ride. FYI-the little Nova(Summerduck post) got in the wall last week on the top end after pushing coolant out under tires and making a hard left .Car hurt pretty bad but like your deal, driver OK . Glad you're making the right decision.See you at VMP.

Sorry to hear of your troubles RH. Maybe if we get rid of the gremlins early enough we can have a great rest of the year.

I pulled the heads off today and think I found the problem. #8 Cyl is gone, I guess I should have filled it before the machine work was done. I should be able to salvage some spare parts from it, but I'll know more after it's out and I pull the pan.

Today I picked up a Filled, Freshly bored and machined 400 block. Eagle 4340 forged crank,Eagle rods. SRP Forged pistons,Hamburger oil pan,all ARP studs, new oil pump and a new flex plate. All it needs is cleaned and assembled. The head took a hit also but it can be repaired and It bent 2 valves. It shouldn't take too long before I'm back in action. :D
