Thanks everybody.
Gary ,.
.you using polyester or epoxy on that dash ????

Nice job keep it going.

Vic
VIC it's just hardware store variety polyester. That's what the dash is made of too. The jell coat is from Arnie's Auto Body Supply since they don't have gel coat @ the hardware store. I used kitty hair in a couple places around the dash bezel & where it mounts to the body. [/code][/i]

Got it roughed in to a 100 grit state & gave it a light coat of primer

I think I'm going to stop here. I'll do the finish work later when I'm ready for final paint. Headers next I 'hink.

The more I LQQK at the intercooler in this pic. I'm thinking I might change the outlet tube connection to a bolt together joint instead of the hose clamp set-up. I can see that thing blowing off taking the dash with it. That might be bad for me knee & ears too.

I haven't been around very many ground-up builds, but this car is definitely something special. You're coming up with a whole lot of amazing stuff, ProZ. Thanks for the photos and updates. WC1

I had some time this weekend so I decided I'd get the hose & clamp set-up replaced. I pulled out the old slab of aluminum and started whittlin' away.

Image
I countersunk #6-32 cap screws. I didn't want to trust that size thread in aluminum so I countersunk nylocks in the other half of the flange.

Image
Flipped one over & cut an o-ring groove

Image
cleaned them up on the lathe & cut the mating surfaces for a nice air tight fit.

Image
Finished and ready to install.

My aluminum welding skills aren't the best, but I got 'em melted together.

Intercooler side with o-ring

Image
all bolted together and back in the caah.

Image
dash cover back in. No more hose & clamps.

That's what I did this weekend. :D

That and we painted Jenni & J.D.'s living room & ate too much.
