Hi Nancy sorry im late at the gate on responding,..yes that is Clints N/FC.
So Once again pulling the rabbit out of my hat I made it down to the 2010 CHRR. I rolled in on Wednesday and got pitted down
in no mans land next to the scales,..talk about being in a ghost town. On thursday I got teched and new it was time to make a couple of
changes and put some Nitro in the tank. My good buddy Clint was in the house and voulentered a gallon of nitro to mix into 4 gallons of methanol, well
it was a little less than 4 gals and a little more than 1 gal nitro..

I shook and airated the jug and poured a bit into the beaker and dropped the bouber
in and got a reading of 20% plus 6 for Temp, so there we had it 26% Nitro a good starting point toeither have some fun or blow some stuff up,..hehehe.
So back to the motor I pull the alky 120 main out and put a 100 main in it to richen the motor up and then added close to 5 flats on the barrel Valve.
With Stormy Byrd, Clint Thompson, and Dan Hix all watching over I fired it up and it sounded awesome, a little smell, some watery eyes, and a trickle of
header flames popping in and out of the headers I new the evil devil had been awaken.
So Friday Morning, scrambling to get some help to tow to the line, buckle in, and get the body down, I managed to get it to the lanes with the help
from Jeff Somsak, and one of the other exhibition cars extra helpers, so in the lanes I also had the good feelings of Clint and Dans precense that helped
take the edge off,..so its my turn to fire up,..they made me put the body down in the lanes and fire up where I sat, makes no scence, so I did,.so threw the
waterbox I rolled up and wacked the loud pedal and hammered the ol Veneys Vega to its peek, the tires jumped right up and started to boil the hides. I could tell
that it had alot more power as by the sensations of doing the burnout that I could have taken well past the finish line but a decided i should lift just at half track. I hauled but in Reverse 25-30mph and got back to the line, put it in first and did one dry hop that turned the tire,.woo hooo,..so I staged set the trans brake got the green and wamo right up into a wheel stand(as usual) cept this time it shook like a mother for the first time and in the wheelie..
I pedaled it gathered it up and ran it threw the top of first gear plugged 2nd and out the back door with a time of 9.06@159.57, very slow time, My car was making more power now but I did not get after the tire pressure to help get the tire spin required when making more power, I had 7 lbs in the tire and it stuck and then wadded up the tire into tire shake, see I learened something new.lol.
Get the car back look at the plugs and all looks great, BUT,..I notice the fuel tank is leaking and the rear moon fuel tank bracket is broke in half, and its gone, and the tank is beat to crap also,..Tire shake a drag cars worse nightmare....hmmmmm I get the tank out and I find the crack, and luckily that evening
Gary Eichman managed to get it welded up for me,.so now I need to find a 8" moon bracket,..I looked all threw the swap Meet Nothing at all for just a bracket.
So now Im sweeting bullits,..I dont have much money and I head down to the MoonEyes tent to see how much he gets for one or if he has one at all. So here I am walking up to Chico, and he says your Slick Vic with the Veneys Vega, and I say yes, and I inquire about the bracket and pulls one out hands it to me and pulls out two decals and says there ya go, and Im like what, what,Chico says Yea take it go race,..wholly crud how cool was that

that bracket must be atleast $39.00..too cool..Thank you Chico.
I get my car all back together, check my percenatge, and make a tire presure adjustment and go to 9lbs psi in the rears which should either blow the tires off or give me the wheel speed I need for improvement on the way this car lauches, so now we wait for Saturdays run,....so Saturday,.Ive got Jeff Somsak, Clint , and Dan Hix getting me ready in the lanes,..its our turn,..now bare in mind the body is down, I have a head sock on, there are cars doing a burnout, Clint Douses my injectors with alky primer,..woops to much prime and the motor wont crank fast enough (Hydraulic effect)..sh*t !!!

No Start,..I get pushed off and haul ass back to my pit where I pulled the plugs, windmill it, put plugs back in, and it fires right up..

..We haul ass back to the lanes where I sat behind 3 other FED exhibition diggers,..one by one they do their Ex now its my turn,..but wait,...Head of the lanes guy waives me off saying you had your shot Exhibition was over, and all I could think of and say was,.Well I wont say it on here,..but I asked the guy, well what was those three cars then, and he says those were Cackle Cars, I say back to him Cackle Cars my ass they just did exhibition burnouts and made exhibition passes,..WTF...So again my day is Over....I decided to take up in a bit of beaverage to ease my suffering,..Bastereds !!!!!
So now its Sunday and this is it, this is for all the marbles, or as I put it the illustrious 7 second pass,...
We tow up got my crew getting her done, fires right up do the ol half crossed up burnout, get back, do a couple of dryhops, stage the car get the R`s up wham
I release the trans break and the car doesnt actually move and it feels like I am twisting the drive shaft or something wierd, and take in mind this is all in MilliSeconds, I pedal it and the car starts going,.hmmmmm,.
so I lost alot of Et on that and run threw 1st and 2nd out the back door with a 8.91 but at 166.29mph,..1mph faster tna I had gone before,..Im thinking wow thats all it would do..

...so I learned that the sensation I was feeling was tire spin,..how much tire spin I will never now because I did a quick pedal
and continued the run,..it might have blown the tires off,..or slipped just enough to be a superstar..

abde abde abde thats all folks..I decide
to spend the rest of the afternoon draining out the fuel and lubing up all my lines, valves, nozzles etc,..and left for Home around 3:30 on Sunday.
I had fun, I saw and met some new, and some old faces threwout the vent,..thanks for coming all the way down to the nose bleed section to see me and the Veneys Vega funny car, it one heck of a walk to get there,.I know I must have been back n forth about 12 times threw out the weekend.
Good seeing you again,. Boyd, Roger, Leon, Big bob, Bob WenzleBurger, Jon Lunberg,.Pete Jennings, just to name a few off hand.
My best moment of the Event is Randy Liberman grabbing me and saying "hey" come here I want you to meet someone....
