Sorry to hear this Pappy, don't do anything yet.
I sold my car and was going to get out of racing back in 97. Sold everything! That was a mistake. I was able to go a year and then I could't take it anymore.
In 99 I bought the altered with a 340 chry engine. After about 15 passes I found the guy I got it from didn't tell me was their were no baffles in the oil pan. So it spun one and two rod bearing. Scraped the 340!
Engine #2 a sb 350 chevy. Number five piston exploded at the finish line in that one and the rod took out the block.
Engine #3, savaged the cam, lifters and heads from #2 engine. Picked up another sb 350, machine work already done, bored .030 over, Ohio pistons, stock crank, rods and a set of stock 194 heads for $300.00. Used my 194 heads, after replacing the bent valves in the #5 chamber, cam and lifters to put together what I have now. It's lasted for 4 years so far and runs consistant 9.60's. I figure the total cost in this engine is about $550.00. With that cost in mind, I do start to hold my breath when I get close to the finish line as the engine reaches the 7000 rpm mark.
Hang in the Pappy !!
