Here's a shot of Jim "Shady" Glenn's Plymouth Volare with Jim Adolph aboard at the 1978 NHRA SuperNationals at Ontario.

At the time, it didn't take the bucks it does today to run a competitive funny car and Glenn made a living running both match races and select national events.

Jim Adolph, who at the time was the publisher of Car Craft magazine, was one of many drivers that drove for Glenn.

Look in the background and you can see Kenny Bernstein's Chelsea House Pub Arrow, King Kenny's first funny car.
